Pink Study

Pink Study is rooted in memories of my paternal grandmother's home and the ways making was woven into everyday life. My grandparents owned an upholstery business, and my grandmother did much of the sewing. There were always scraps of fabric, tassels, trim, and other materials around the house. Those objects became part of how I understood home, not just as a place, but as a space where things were constantly being made, repaired, and cared for.

The materials in this piece are not from her home, but the work is inspired by those memories. Bringing these fragments together feels like piecing back together a feeling. My grandmother is still with us, and her home is still there, but that season of life has passed. My grandfather is gone, the upholstery business no longer exists, and she is no longer able to sew. The materials that once filled those rooms are gone, but the memory of them remains.
